Drayman

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Distribution Driver/Drayman to join the team at Joseph Holt Ltd.

The Role

As a Distribution Driver/Drayman, you will play an important role within our distribution operation, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of casks, kegs, packaged beer, wines and spirits to Joseph Holt pubs and Free Trade customers across the region.

This is a varied, hands-on and physically demanding role, involving the regular manual handling and movement of heavy products, including loading and unloading vehicles and, where required, stillaging beer within customer cellars. You will work both independently and alongside other members of the Distribution team, representing Joseph Holt when visiting our pubs and customers and helping to maintain a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading drays safely and ensuring the correct stock is loaded for each delivery.
• Delivering casks, kegs, packaged beer, wines and spirits to Joseph Holt pubs and Free Trade customers.
• Safely unloading and delivering stock at each location, either independently or alongside a Stillager as required.
• Stillaging beer within cellars.
• Collecting empty containers and returning them to the Brewery.
• Carrying out appropriate vehicle safety checks and promptly reporting any defects or concerns.
• Ensuring the safe loading, securing and transportation of stock.
• Ensuring stock rotation is carried out correctly.
• Maintaining good day-to-day communication with customers and colleagues to support high service levels.
• Complying with Company procedures and all relevant driving, road safety, Health & Safety and security requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping within working areas.
• Keeping Company vehicles clean, tidy and presentable.
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role and supporting the wider Distribution operation as required.

About You

Essential

• Full UK driving licence and a valid Category C (Class 2) licence.
• Valid and in-date Driver CPC.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Reliable, hardworking and flexible approach to work.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage your workload and solve day-to-day problems.
• Good attention to detail.
• Good awareness of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
• Able to meet the physical demands of the role, including regular manual handling of heavy products.
