Spinner's Rest | The Newest Thread in Manchester's Fabric
Opening in Spring 2026, the Spinner’s Rest will become the latest of Joseph Holt’s 128 pubs across the North West serving its quintessentially Northern, award-winning ales and adding a touch of classic pub heritage to the modern bar scene of Manchester’s Ancoats area.
Formerly [known as The Shamrock, and following a £1.8 million refurbishment, the famous Ancoats watering hole has been given new life while still keeping a connection to the history of the area and the communities it serves. The Spinner’s Rest name was selected through a public vote and pays tribute to the mill workers who once lived and operated in the area.
The original pub dates to 1808 and has long been a local institution in the cotton-spinning area of Manchester. Now, as part of the Joseph Holt family brewery, it’s ready to re-enter the fold and become the newest thread in Manchester’s fabric, with a storied history behind it, befitting the area in which it sits. Patrons, get ready for a traditional pub in the heart of modern Ancoats!
