POPULAR MANCHESTER PUB LAUNCH PAD FOR NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL
Manchester has long been the birthplace of some of the biggest names in the music world.
And now the next generation of rising stars have another platform from which to showcase their work – thanks to a brand new, three day festival which took place at The Grafton Arms pub.
Known as the LOP Fest, the festival takes its name from a new promotions initiative called Lamp Oil Presents, which has been set up by the team behind another popular Joseph Holt venue, The Eagle Inn . Itself a lively music hub which hosts acts and club events every night.
LOP Fest ran from October 23rd to 25th and featured 15 bands over the three-night jamboree. The event finished with a flourish when one of Manchester’s favourite bands, PINS, took to the decks for a special DJ set.
Said organiser Ben Turner of The Eagle Inn: “Manchester is such a thriving city in terms of music – for both lovers of music and those who play. That’s why we decided to launch LOP Fest – as means of bringing even more bands into the city.
“The Grafton Arms is a classic, city centre Joseph Holt’s pub – and although they do currently run numerous nights of the live music, the hope f is that the festival will elevate the pub to a staple venue in Manchester’s grass roots music scene and welcome touring bands in the future.”
Other bands playing at LOP Fest included Ask My Bull, Charlot, Frank and the Beats, and Super Market.
Paul Longmire, marketing manager for Joseph Holt, added: “As well as being known for our award-winning beers and ales, many of our pubs are places where great live music thrives. We’re really excited about LOP Fest and the part it will play in showcasing even more incredible talent here in Manchester.”
