Tucked away just off Deansgate, The Ape & Apple is a vibrant and welcoming city-centre pub, perfect for a laid-back drink, a delicious meal, or a lively night out. With large doors opening onto John Dalton Street and a rooftop terrace upstairs, the pub is bright, spacious, and full of character. Inside, the wood-panelled bar and stylish tiling create a classic pub atmosphere, while upstairs, you’ll find additional seating, a separate bar, and a dedicated stage area. This space plays host to Manchester’s longest-running free comedy night every Wednesday, as well as live music events throughout the year.

Heading into Spring 2026, The Ape & Apple is now under the management of the team behind the beloved That Burger Place – a restaurant brand known for its California-inspired smash burgers and named in awards among the top burger joints in the UK.

Ryan and Meg have now brought their foodie passion from That Burger Place with them into the pub, meaning customers will be able to enjoy the brand’s acclaimed burger menu alongside Joseph Holt’s award-winning ales. The menu will include a range of burgers, from the classic New Yorker and towering four-patty Big Smash to vegetarian and vegan options.

For Ryan, the partnership with Joseph Holt represents something of a homecoming. Not only is the Ape & Apple his local, but his family has strong ties to the brewery. His parents previously ran Joseph Holt pubs, including The Golden Lion in Swinton, and Ryan himself spent years working behind the bar
