6 REASONS WHY EVERY BEER LOVER NEEDS A 5L MINI KEG
We love pints. Didn’t really need saying, did it? Specifically, we love seeing our loyal patrons enjoying our expertly brewed beer that we’ve been perfecting for over 175 years. As a brewery with a long, long history of pouring the people of Manchester some of their favourite pints, of course we want you to drink them the way they were intended – directly from the keg.
We know, though, that however big a beer fan you might be, sometimes you can’t always get out to one of our pubs, that’s why we launched Holts at Home after all! We believe that, wherever you are, you should be able to enjoy our incredible pints. With that in mind, we felt obliged to write this little piece in honour of the home pint – and let’s state the facts here – the perfect home pint comes from a 5l mini keg.

So here are 6 reasons why, as a beer lover, you need to embrace the mini keg…
1. The way it was brewed to be drunk
As we’ve just mentioned, our brilliant brewers have been busy working away to perfect our award-winning ales since before your great grandparents were old enough to drink! As a beer lover, there’s a high level of respect for the craft of brewing, so what better way to honour that practice than to savour every drop of that magnificent nectar the way it was brewed to be drunk – from brewery to glass with no interruption.
2. The pub experience from home
Pubs are brilliant, aren’t they? But they shouldn’t be the only places you can get the perfect pint. Who says you can’t take a slice of that experience home with you? We want you to be able to sit back in the comfort of your own home and never need to be without the perfect pint. A can or a bottle fits nicely in a glass and even drank directly out of hand, but there’s no pour like you can get straight from a keg. That’s a proper pint.
3. The only way to get some of our beers at home
Any beer connoisseur worth their salt will have their finger on the pulse of the best classically northern ales – and at Joseph Holt we’ve got some absolute crackers! But if you want to enjoy some of the tantalising offerings we brew, you won’t find them in a can or a bottle, you can only find them from our in-pub pumps or in a 5l home mini keg. If you find yourself at home and with an understandable craving for our famous Holts Bitter, for example, you know what to do…
4. Think about the extra fridge space
The beer lover faces a daily conundrum – what food can be sacrificed in the fridge to make way for more beer. As the bottles and cans pile up, you might have noticed something… that’s a lot of extra packaging per beer. Enter the mini keg. Capable of serving up around nine pints worth of ale, you’d need to stock up the equivalent of around 14-15 cans or bottles in order to match that volume. Imagine how much food would need to go to make way for all that. The 5l mini keg takes up a significantly smaller amount of space so your thirst for our moreish pints won’t get in your way.
5. It’s more affordable – crucially!
As someone who drinks their fair share of craft beer, you’ll know it’s not exactly a cheap hobby. Bottle after bottle certainly adds up over time and you end up essentially paying a ‘bottle tax’, not ideal!
